I was finally the cool mom for once in my cotton pickin' life! Or maybe I was just the dorky mom. Whichever. I still got to see Vampire Weekend.

Here's my gal the younger, all set to go see her umpteenth concert, but the first one she had ever successfully petitioned for on her own behalf:Unlike Michael Franti, Vampire Weekend did not demand a great deal of enthusiasm (earned or unearned). Although they did mention that it looked rather pleasant from the stage when the audience waved their arms in the air:In any case, this time I wore shoes much more conducive to expressing enthusiasm. Although it was kind of scary jumping around way up there in the balcony like that.My gal was very, very happy. I think both my gals and my gal's friend was happy. Besides for the staying up late on a school night thing, I was very happy. And that was everyone that went. It was fun, fun, fun!

Couldn't make it out...who was playing? Enjoy the cool moment, just remember...you'll be cool years later when you least expect it.

Course, 'that' really helps 'these' days, lol.

I'm a bit burned out on the whole vampire thing, but it still looks like a blast.

Loraine - I didn't really follow the whole vampire/twilight thing. Never read the books or seen the movies. But the band had its name before the whole twilight thing got popular. And there's nothing vampire-y in the music at all. It's sort of a misnomer in any case, because it's all very fun music - nothing dark or anything.

lol, my daughters were into the Club (d)Edward thing too, thought at first Vampire Weekend was a local shindig. *makes note to look cool for daughters*

Ha! You had to go and see them! I just dropped off and picked up for that one :-)I'm not a great fan. I am more of a rock chick myself; although I like that 'Cousins' song. I like the fact that we get to learn a whole lot of new music through our kids though :-)

Tracy - It was fun! I was not so crazy about the idea of being out late on a school night and I'm STILL trying to make up on the sleep, but it was a lot of fun.

John - I lucked out on that one - nobody into the vampire thing here, aside from the name of the band. :-)

Arizaphale - I actually wanted to see them - I didn't mind going at all. It's not poetic or deep or anything, but it's fun. There was one kid music concert that I was soooooooooo glad her grandma brought her to and I didn't have to go. Miley Cyrus maybe? Some kid thing. It's kind of funny about Vampire Weekend too - my gal and I both first heard them on a children's segment of a show we used to listen to (that song about "Is your sweater on?"). Then somehow I think she got two of the songs on her ipod? I'm not sure if maybe her dad bought them for her or what. But independent of that, I read what AFM wrote about them and bought the whole album. Neither of us knew the other had the music for awhile, & I couldn't figure out why a couple of the songs sounded so familiar!

So these vampires don't go a-hunting on weekdays? Maybe the recession means they have to work the othe 5 days like the rest of us.

SJ - I'm not sure. We saw them on a Thursday, but I forgot to consult them on whether or not it was during regular business hours. :-)
