25+ Picture Books for Hanukkah, Chanukkah, Hanukah, and Chanukah

Post contains affiliate links.  See full disclosure here.
The great thing about Hanukkah books is that they're supposed to be full of miracles and the unbelievable. So don't even have to think twice when latkes get up to walk away or an old woman thinks a bear is a human or a polar bear decides NOT to eat a lonely traveler for lunch.

I've grouped these books for older kids and younger kids, but it really depends on the maturity of the child, so mix and match!  I've started with the ones for older kids and sort of worked back.

Chanukah and Hanukkah books for elementary aged kids:

Simon is saved rather than eaten by a polar bear. The pictures in this book are just beautiful:

Simon and the Bear: A Hanukkah Tale

Bears are well represented in Chanukah books. And Hanukkah books. In this story, Bubba Brayna doesn't realize her guest is a bear:

The Chanukkah Guest

Latkes taste even better after they've gotten their heart rate up running around all over town:

The Runaway Latkes

The basic story from beginning to end:

The Story of Hanukkah

A goblin gives Jacob special dreidels, but first he has to foil Fruma Sarah's plans to steal them:

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!

Instead of taking nice Independence Day photos this year, I just decided my time would be better spent cleaning up cat pee and ripping up carpet.  So I'm re-posting this from two years ago instead:

You're a Grand Old Flag! You're a high flying flag!

And forever in peace...ummmm...forever in peace...what was I doing with this thing again?

Oh yeah, I remember now. Eating it.

What do you mean proper flag etiquette doesn't include munching on the stars and stripes?!?!?!

Oh well. Back to eating random stuff I find on the ground. Happy Fourth of July People!

Mrs. Fee-mehn's Gluten Free Super Easy Passover Peanut Butter Cookies

When I told the Head of Demolition there would be no bread, cookies, or pasta during Passover, her previous excitement about "MOSES!" was suddenly replaced by a somber, "Passover be ah-done soon?"

Do Try This at Home: Gluten Free Easy 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Little does she know she's in store for more delicious treats.  We've already made a flourless Death-By-Chocolate cake, and when she wakes up from nap, she'll discover these yummy cookies that her preschool teacher told me how to make.

They're SO easy that Mrs. Freedman just TOLD me the recipe out on the playground.  And I remembered it!  All the way home.  And then I wrote it here because by next year, I won't remember.

Picture Books and Children's Songs for Passover

This post contains affiliate links, meaning...I get all of like a third of a cent if you click on one of the links and actually buy something. See full disclosure here.

I think because of the movie The Ten Commandments people sort of more or less know a little more what Passover is all about than they do about Chanukkah.

For those who still wonder: the short explanation is: Passover is exactly like the movie except instead of different scenes and special effects, the story is told with food.
